Eaton Methodist Church is involved in numerous mission projects locally, nationally and abroad.
Preble County Food Bank and the Once Around Shop
Our church is committed to helping those in our community that have fallen on hard times through donations to the Preble County Food Bank and The Once Around Shop. Our church is responsible for contributing small containers of hygiene products such as dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, toothpaste, 4 pack toilet paper, bar soap, etc. Non-perishable food items are always welcome and we certainly try to help when the food bank is low on any food items. The Once Around Shop can always use gently used Bibles as well. There is a basket outside of the pastor’s office for your donations. 1,634 food items were donated to the food bank in 2023.
Christmas for Preble County Families
Each year, our church adopts several families in need and our members purchase new gift items to help make their holidays a little brighter. In 2023, we furnished 30 Preble County children with Christmas gifts!
Operation Christmas Child
Through Samaritan’s Purse, our church donates shoe boxes filled with items children would like as well as a message about Christ. A 12 week bible study is also offered with the shoe box and an opportunity to receive a bible when they finish the study. In 2023 we collected 77 shoe boxes.
School Supplies
Each year at the start of school, in conjunction with the Once Around Shop, we collect school supplies to support children whose family may not be able to provide the necessary supplies. In 2023, our church blessed children in Preble County with 350 school supplies.
Rummage Sale
A rummage sale is held each spring to support an area of need. In years past the rummage sale has supported our youth group mission trip, the Once Around Shop, shoes for children in Ecuador and the Salvation Army. Donations are accepted from anyone in the church or in the community. Prices are very reasonable and there is always lots of great merchandise! We encourage you to donate or come and buy!
Other Missions Support
The Agape Sunday School Class gives generously to various missions projects throughout the year, including Red Bird Mission and World Hope International. The Outreach Team gives generous donations to the Common Good of Preble County and American Indian Christian Mission, as well as Samaritan's Purse by donating the cost of shipping and handling for shoeboxes.
